Harrisville Art Show, Sept 4 & 5, 2010

Finally got the new display ready for use. Might need some "fine-tuning", but we're happy with it. The show itself was windy, cloudy, scattered rain, and cold. A few peeks of the sun occasionally, but all in all, it was still a worthwhile show.

Ann Arbor, Main St., 2010

This was our booth this year in Ann Arbor. We were working on a new display set-up but due to MANY SNAFU's, didn't get it done the way we wanted. Will Keep working on it! (Don't pay attention to the date!!! The camera's off!)

Tawas Fine Art Show

Pottery By Machulis was displaying at the Tawas Fine Art Show July 31-Aug 1. Very nice show, (Took 2nd place in Clay--following the 1st. Place AND Best of Show winner who happens to be a very good friend of ours that we talked into doing the show!! Even before the judging, Sam said if we lost out to anyone, it would have to be to Michael Kahn--besides, we won the 1st. Place & Best of Show the LAST time we did that show!!) Congrats Mike!
Now it's on to Labor Day in Harrisville, last show of this season for us. We'll spend the next few months working in the studio and deciding which shows we want to try to do next year!

Ann Arbor 2010 is "in the books"...

Well, we made it. This was one of the stormiest Ann Arbor shows I can remember. And the heat & humidity were oppressive. But the crowds were out! The storms closed at least some of the show during 2 of the 4 days, and rain showers were intermittent.
Thanks to all the "returning" fans of Sam's work. A very pleasant surprise to have so many return customers "restocking" their collections! The new items that Sam had were very well received...There will be more!!
Getting ready to head to Tawas City this coming weekend. Hoping the setting of a "park on the beach" will make for a more (physically) comfortable setting!

New Life Begins!

We're getting ready for the Ann Arbor Art Show. We decided last month we needed a FOURTH kiln to be able to produce the artwork we need as effeciently as possible--unfortunately, it won't get here until next month! So we are making do and firing our current kilns 'round the clock. (Ann Arbor is exhausting before we even get there.) Even with some major stresses with the firings, the pots are coming out beautiful. Hope to see you there!~

Virtual Art Show

Don't forget, we have a page on the Ann Arbor Guild's "Virtual Art Show"--check us out: http://theguild.org/art/sam_machulis.htm

Here we go!

Well, we're gearing up for the Ann Arbor Art Show, July 21 through July 24. We'll be back in our booth on Main St., #167. (Between the Starbucks and The Prickly Pear mexican resturant.) The following weekend, July 31--Aug.1, we'll be at the Tawas Fine Art Show (across from the City Police Dept. in the park on the beach.) Beautiful area. Ordering another kiln--which won't be in until August sometime :( --but will hopefully have a slightly different look to our booth setup; new & "fresher" I hope! Let me know what you think!

"Retirement"?????

Well, it's final. Sam's public school teaching is coming to a close. He "officially" retires June 30th. But as a new friend just told us;
"Artists don't retire, they just run out of time!"
I can see that happening already. He has so many plans, ideas, projects, expectations...we couldn't do them all if we lived to be 100. And of course, I have an agenda for him too!! But we're still looking at doing Ann Arbor and Tawas this year (Michigan shows). At first we were going to schedule a LOT of shows, but due to aging family members with poor health, we've decided to "jump in slowly"! We are discussing doing Harrisville, MI (it's close) and "the Pink Palace" in Memphis, TN in October (a working vacation). Next year we'll try for Rochester MI's "Art & Apples" which was always one of our favorite shows to do.
